Role Description

To work in partnership with the Management Committee to facilitate the participation of disabled performers in the sport of volleyball and the development of sitting volleyball as a Club activity. Work alongside the Head Coach to ensure that all Club coaches are aware of the issues of coaching people with disabilities and ensure that they are able to fulfil those duties if required.

Responsible to: Volleyball Management Committee

Main Duties

1.0 Improving participation of disabled performers
1.1 To assist the Club in creating the necessary links to promote the sport of volleyball.
1.2 To set up a mailing list and data Base of all Disability clubs and to actively network those groups.
1.3 To produce newsletters and details of events run both by the club and Disability organisations to aid networking and forge long lasting links.
1.4 To ensure all access issues are considered and comply with legislative requirements
1.5 To report all issues pertinent to the success of improving participation by disabled people.

2.0 Development of Sitting Volleyball
2.1 To attend all relevant courses, and keep updated by subscribing to relevant journals and newsletters.
2.2 To actively recruit volunteers and coaching staff to assist the process.
2.3 To provide training and information for coaching staff on relevant issues
2.4 To co-ordinate training times and court availability
2.5 To explore issues affecting disabled performers and plan strategies to support continued involvement.

3.0 Commitment
3.1 Attend all club committee meetings when appropriate or required
3.2 Attend meetings with the local authority & any other partners as required
3.3 Act as the clubs representative at any other meetings as appropriate
3.4 Produce reports and presentations when required
3.5 Provide support and encouragement to disabled people.
