Carl Butcher and Nikolay Nikolov competing at Great Yarmouth
National league and BUCS men's team captain Carl Butcher joined forces with the Bulgarian terminator Nikolay EMILOV Nikolov in an attempt to assult the beaches of England over the summer, to add silverware and a tan to the treble win on the indoor season previous.
The tournaments occured far and wide with Nikolay's little skoda doing a great job of getting the team to Great Yarmouth, Margate, Sandbanks, Weymouth and Skegness. Results never really varied, as the team came up against tough opposition in the early rounds of almost all events, including the GB number 1 seeds for the 2012 olympics, Australian beach champions and many Super 8 players who play beach on a regular summer basis.
With one event to go in Bournemouth at the end of August, the team hopes to go one better than their best finish of 7th in Skegness and maybe, just maybe, show that a team the furthest from the sea can prove themselves on the sands of the south coast!
