The Men's National League team has enjoyed success so far this season. The progression from last year was very evident this past weekend. Three matches in two days not only saw the men remain top of the league, but also saw them reach the National KO Shield Semi Finals.

Following a defeat in the first fixture of the season, you might have been forgiven for thinking that another year or dissappointment lay ahead for the men under coach Graham Fowler for the first time in 3 years. However following that defeat to SGTV Solent back in September the men have won all but one of their league and cup fixtures.

This weekend saw them take on a young and enthusiastic Malory Eagles 2 side at Turves Green boys school in the quarter finals of the shield competition. The men were able to produce one of their best performances of the season against a team boasting members of the GB setup in their squad. This saw them win confidently 3-0 and progress through to the semi-finals of a national tournament for the first time in recent years. This years shield run comes only a year after the women made the final of the National KO Cup. The success from both teams in the competitions again shows the progression of UBVC over the past few years.

Sundays league victories over Barnsely and East Midlands Lions ensured that the men remain top of the league with 6 games remaining, however the men will know that they will have to fight every step of the way to remain in that position.
