Club visits Bishop Walsh School
Monday 21st January 2008

Bishop Walsh pupils with the University of Birmingham men's BUCS team, and Mr. Huddleston, PE teacher at Bishop Walsh.
On Wednesday 16th January the men's BUSA team visited Bishop Walsh Catholic School in Sutton Coldfield, one of the Club's school-club link partners to hold an exhibition match. The BUSA team comprised players from the regional squads all the way through to the National league squads.
Approximately thirty Bishop Walsh pupils attended to watch the Olympic sport, most had not seen before, especially live in front of them. The team played a set to 25 points before giving the children a chance to show their volleyball skills via a serving competition with the best three winning a Club t-shirt. This was followed by the children getting some practice time with the players before ending with a second set by the BUSA squad.
During the evening, the Club also donated a bag of brand new Mikasa Volleyballs to the Bishop Walsh Volleyball Club and Mr Huddleston (back, centre), who runs the after-school club.
On the 23rd and 30th January, Bishop Walsh will be holding the 2nd annual volleyball tournament for KS3 boys and KS3 girls respectively. This is the first year for the girls tournament, and they will hopefully better the boys first year after they came in 4th and 6th in their first year. This years tournament is set to be bigger than last year with four more Schools entering.
