Sport and Recreational Alliance SCOTY Award

Sport and Recreational Alliance SCOTY Award

The work of the club, the dedicated coaches and volunteers has been recognised by the Sport and Recreation Alliance in their annual Sports Club of the Year award for 2011.

Each year the Alliance assesses the contribution of amateur sports club from all sports across the country to their local communities, schools, members and volunteers. In 2009 the Club was awarded second place in the prestigious award and this year made the shortlist of top four community sports clubs in the country.

Newly elected Club Captain, Justin Hunt said:

“The club is honoured to be shortlisted for this award, but this could not have been achieved without the team of volunteers and coaches who have given their time and effort, day in day out, to ensure its further success. The club hopes to sustain this level of dedication and contribution to the community in years to come.“

The Sport and Recreation Alliance is the umbrella organisation for the governing and representative bodies of sport and recreation in the UK. Tim Lamb, chief executive of the Alliance said:

“The Sports Club of the Year Award is something that we have hosted for many years to congratulate and celebrate our community sports clubs.  The nominees and winners just keep getting better and better, and it is inspiring to see, in these straitened economic times, clubs run by volunteers going from strength to strength.  We hear a lot about the Big Society, you need to look no further that these clubs to see the very definition of it.“
