Women's BUCS Vs. University of Cambridge
Wednesday 12th November 2008
After the BUCS girls’ first win in the previous week against Oxford Brookes, they had their sights set on another win to start competing for a good position in the league.
Despite a 3-0 win, the final score flattered the Birmingham team, as they struggled to find any sort of rhythm and consistency to their game. The first two sets were closer than they needed to be, with Birmingham winning the first set 25-22. And then the second set 25-23.
By the third set, however, the Birmingham girls had found their game and played a unit with every player taking the ball like they wanted to win the point, forcing Cambridge into a defensive game. The score difference quickly grew, and by the mid-point of the set had established nine point lead. Anna Blake, the setter, won the final point of the game with a nicely disguised second ball tip into a gap between the Cambridge players. Birmingham won the third set comfortably, 25-15.
